Cargo ships are among the world’s most expensive cruises, but they’re also the most dangerous.
And when you get into a cargo ship, the risk can be particularly intense.

The ship was cruising from Italy to Australia, and it was due to arrive in the Australian capital on Monday.
The captain of the ship, Francesco Schettino, was the captain of one of the most powerful ships in the world.

The cruise was supposed to have been a high-profile trip, with some of the world-famous celebrities on board, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, and Bill Gates.
The passengers had all planned to spend a day on the ship before the trip got underway.
Instead, the ship was so packed with passengers that some of them didn’t get on board.
A number of people died, including the captain.
“The ship was packed to the brim with people,” Andrea Rossi, the author of The Dangerous Cargo, told Buzzfeed News.
“A lot of them were in the worst of shape.”
It wasn’t just the captain who was in trouble, either.
The crew on the Costa Conncia was also struggling to keep the ship afloat as the cruise went along.
Rossi said the crew were constantly losing control.
“I was there, and there were always people around me, so I had to be very careful, and I had no idea what was going on,” he said.
“One day, I was looking at the captain, and he had the ship in front of him, so it was very hard to get around him.”
The ship is not the only one that suffered a fatal accident while on the cruise.
In April 2017, a Russian ship carrying over 100 passengers crashed in the Pacific Ocean, killing at least 29 people.
According to Rossi, it was not an accident but rather a shipwreck.
“It was a huge tragedy, and they just went to sea and got nothing,” he told Buzzburn.
“They had no crew, no supplies, and everything was ruined.”
The Costa Conccineia’s crew also didn’t have the luxury of rest when they arrived at the Australian port.
The port of Darwin is a small and cramped place, and Rossi said that the ship’s captain was struggling to maintain the ship and make repairs.
The vessel was also suffering from bad weather.
The weather had been bad, and the weather forecast for that night had been terrible.
The cargo ship had no fuel, and its crew had to rely on water.
“There were no food supplies, there were no medical supplies,” Rossi said.
It was only a matter of time before something terrible happened to the ship.
“All the time the captain was telling them to be patient, and that they needed to do everything they could,” Rossi continued.
“We were in a hurry, and we didn’t want to wait.”

But Rossi said he was paid $50 per day for each passenger.
“You have to pay the fee, which is about $150 per person, plus a $1,500 fee to the cruise company,” Rossi told Buzzbeat.
“At least half that, and half the rest.”
The cost of the cruise is split evenly between the captain and crew.
Rossi estimates the cost of his stay at $5,500 per day.
It’s possible the crew would have to work extra hours to keep up with the demands of the voyage.
“Maybe the captain’s already working overtime, or he’s just exhausted,” Rossi wrote.
“But if the crew’s working extra, they’ve got to pay for the other crew as well, and so on.”
In the end, the Costa Concie’s crew paid the cruise’s owner for the cruise, with a total bill of $5.5 million.
In 2018, the cruise operator Cruise Lines announced that the Costa Cruises service would be discontinued in 2019, citing the company’s “increasing safety and operational needs.”
It also announced that it would be taking over the Costa Comcare, the service that the company operated before it was sold to Carnival in 2017.
