In a dramatic development, the shipping container ship that carried 2,100 tons of a shipment of marijuana and heroin was found on a remote Pacific island, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Wednesday.
The Coast Guard’s Ocean Shield aircraft was on the scene and found the vessel in international ocean waters, according to a statement from the agency.
The vessel, the USNS San Antonio, was loaded with marijuana and cocaine, with fentanyl hidden in the marijuana.
It was not immediately clear what kind of drugs were on board the vessel, according the statement.
The DEA had said earlier that it had not yet found the drugs on board.
